This was the one. I was walking out of my daughter's school after dropping her off at kindergarten and I spotted this humdinger.
It all clicked... a photo series of faces on sidewalks. A minute later, I had the shot snapped and the title chosen... Emoticoncrete. I haven't looked at a sidewalk again since and don't think I ever will.
